Board Governance

I follow two rules of thumb when it comes to nonprofit boards:

#1: “Principles of effectiveness” are more useful than “best practices.”
#2: A good board is one that does what the organization needs it to do.

Two levels of board training are available. Board Basics addresses:

  • Board responsibilities
  • Board structure and composition
  • Committee functions

Advanced Board Training is designed for boards seeking deeper levels of member engagement. Board members are led through a series of activities based on the Governance as Leadership* framework.
