Who We Are

Stone Consulting creates organizational clarity and consensus through strategy development, facilitation and conflict mediation services. I launched my consulting practice in 2005 after spending my early career in higher education. It was my experience as chief program officer and later as executive director of a community foundation that introduced me to the world of strategy. In addition to serving over 150 clients, I have written and taught numerous undergraduate courses in nonprofit management. My formal education consists of bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Louisville and a Ph.D. in higher, adult and lifelong education from Michigan State University. My areas of expertise include strategy development, board governance, conflict mediation and developmental evaluation.

  • 20+ Years Experience

  • PhD in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education, Michigan State University

  • Conflict Mediation Certification, Northwestern University

  • Authored “From the Inside Out: A Nonprofit’s Guide to Meaningful Strategy”

Nonprofit strategy is about the journey as much as it is about the destination. This book is your guide for the journey.

The need for anchoring is never greater than during times of turmoil and unpredictability.
For nonprofits, these conditions are becoming the norm. The key to maintaining relevance, impact, and sustainability is knowing the right questions to ask and when to ask them.

Our values are the tenets that drive us, every minute of every day. They’re the basis for how we make decisions and advise our clients.
